President ratifies EU-Georgia association agreement

Poland's president on Thursday ratified an association agreement between the European Union and Georgia.

The Sejm (lower house) passed the law authorising President Bronislaw Komorowski to ratify the association agreement between the EU and Georgia in February. In March it was approved by the Senate.

The association agreement together with a free trade area deal was signed between the European Union and Georgia on June 27, 2014 in Brussels.

Poland has already ratified the EU association agreements with three Eastern Partnership countries, including Moldova and Ukraine.

The Eastern Partnership project was launched by Poland and Sweden in 2009. It covers Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. (PAP)
