"Poland a gateway to EU for Japan"
Poland is an open and attractive gateway to the European Union for Japan, President Bronislaw Komorowski told a Polish-Japanese economic forum in Tokyo on Friday.
"I trust that negotiations on an economic partnership agreement between the EU and Japan will end in an advantageous agreement that will also serve the continued development of Polish-Japanese cooperation," President Komorowski said.
Japan is the biggest Asian investor in Poland, Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency (PAIiIZ) President Slawomir Majman pointed out at the forum. Of 300 Japanese companies operating in Poland, 90 are manufacturing businesses, he added.
Japanese investments in Poland are mainly in the automotive and electronic sectors. PAIiIZ is encouraging Japanese businesses to invest in other sectors as well, including scientific research, food processing and the power industry, Majman said.
