National day of mourning declared for 12 Poles killed in mining blast

Sunday will be a day of national mourning in Poland after a Thursday methane explosion took the lives of 13 miners, including 12 Poles, at a mine in Karvina, Czech Republic.

President: Chief of General Staff to be 'first soldier' of the Republic

From December 23, the first part of reforms of the Armed Forces' command and control structures come into force under which the Chief of the General Staff becomes the 'first soldier' of the Republic of Poland.
