Pope thanks Poles for testimony of faith
During the meeting with First Lady Agata Kornhauser-Duda, Pope Francis thanked Poles for their strong presence and testimony of faith during the World Youth Day 2019 (WYD) in Panama, presidential aide Krzysztof Szczerski said.
See also: First Lady meets with Polish pilgrims in Panama Around 700,000 people attended a Sunday mass celebrated by Pope Francis at the closing of the 34th World Youth Day. The Pope announced that the next WYD will be held in Lisbon in 2022. The Polish president's wife also attended the Holy Mass.
"Pope Francis in conversation with the First Lady thanked Poles for their strong presence and testimony of faith during the meeting in Panama and for organisational help, which Polish partners have given to Panamanians," Krzysztof Szczerski noted.
The Poles were also acknowledged and thanked by Panama City Mayor Juan Carlos Valera, who was a guest of honour at the meeting summarising the Polish presence during WYD. The meeting organised on Sunday evening on board the Polish sailing ship 'Dar Młodzieży', was also attended by Agata Kornhauser-Duda, Primate of Poland Wojciech Polak, Polish bishops, the apostolic nuncio in Panama, Panamanian government ministers as well as Maritime Economy Minister Marek Gróbarczyk.
