President Duda to attend Arraiolos Group meeting in Latvia

Polish President Andrzej Duda, along with the heads of 12 other countries, will take part in the Arraiolos Group meeting in Latvia on Thursday, the head of the President's Office, Krzysztof Szczerski, has said.

The Riga meeting, hosted by Latvian President Raimonds Vejonis, is to be attended, along with Andrzej Duda, by the leaders of Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Italy, Malta, Portugal and Slovenia.

Krzysztof Szczerski said the leading topics of this year's fourteenth Arraiolos Group meeting will be "issues of hard and soft threats to security, peace and stability in Europe."

"The presidents will reflect on the current situation in Europe, discuss the current challenges and geopolitical threats. State leaders will also talk about social problems and challenges on the Old Continent," said the presidential minister.

Krzysztof Szczerski also informed PAP that on the sidelines of the Riga summit, the Polish President will hold a bilateral meeting with Austrian President Alexander van der Bellen. "Bilateral issues, preparations for the COP 24 summit, which will take place in Katowice this December, as well as the priorities of the Austrian presidency of the European Union, will be the topic of the talks," added Minister Szczerski.

The Arraiolos Group brings together the presidents of EU member states to discuss topical challenges. It is named after the small Portuguese town of Arraiolos, where the first meeting took place in 2003. (PAP)
