Polish president's aide to talk to French counterparts in Paris

President Andrzej Duda's chief aide Krzysztof Szczerski will hold political consultations with two representatives of French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday, diplomatic advisor Philipp Etienne and European advisor Clement Beaune.

"The talks will concern Polish-French cooperation in the field of international security with particular emphasis on the agenda of the UN Security Council and this year's NATO summit, as well as the future of the European Union and bilateral cooperation," Krzysztof Szczerski said on Wednesday.

The head of the Polish President's Office will also discuss "the prospect for resuming the work of the Weimar Triangle at the highest level".

In Paris, the presidential minister will also take part in a meeting organised by Institut Montaigne, one of the most prestigious French think-tanks, where he will present the Three Seas initiative (for cooperation between the countries situated in the Baltic, Black Sea and Adriatic Sea region in the area of infrastructure). He will also take part in the opening of the Paris Polish Forum 2018, an annual conference organised by the Association of Poles at Paris Institute of Political Sciences.

The renewing of cooperation within the Weimar Triangle was one of the topics discussed by President Duda during a meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in March in Warsaw. The Weimar Triangle was established in 1991 by foreign ministers to develop cooperation between Poland, Germany and France. (PAP)
