Polish President Andrzej Duda and Germany's Foreign Minister Heiko Maas agreed during their Friday meeting in Warsaw that the future of Europe lies in its unity and not divisions.

Maas declared that Germany would try to convince France to renew co-operation within the Weimar Triangle.

The Duda-Maas meeting took place in the Presidential Palace in Warsaw on Friday.

"The President's conversation with Minister Maas lasted one hour and has two main messages: Firstly, that the future of Europe lies in its unity and not divisions into Europe A, B, C or the hard core of Europe and the rest of the countries. Secondly, that Poland and Germany will work together to convince France to re-establish the Weimar Triangle, because today this decision lies in French hands," President Duda's chief aide Krzysztof Szczerski pointed out.

The presidential aide also said that the Duda-Maas talks concerned European policy as well as bilateral relations on historical issues and "unambiguous German awareness of their responsibility for historical events." The two politicians also raised the war reparations question. (PAP)
