"I talked a lot about this with the president (of Iraq - PAP), among other things, about tightening of cooperation between Polish mining and gas industry companies with Iraqi partners in such fields as the extraction of hydrocarbons and gas. We also spoke of (Polish fuels company - PAP) Lotos' cooperation with partners in Iraq", Andrzej Duda told a joint press conference in Warsaw.
According to Andrzej Duda, talks also concerned Polish-Iraqi cooperation in agriculture, "an extremely promising sector for Poland". In this context, the president recalled Poland's food exports to Iraq, including beef, as well as the cooperation of Polish agri-food and industrial companies with Iraqi partners.
Noting that the talks were attended by both countries’ agriculture ministers, President Duda expressed hope that the sides would soon sign intergovernmental agreements in this area.
President Duda said his talks with the Iraqi president had also covered bilateral military cooperation, including the modernisation of military infrastructure and hardware. He underlined that Polish specialists and experts were already in Iraq, while specialists from Iraq are scheduled to come to Poland for training.
"I asked the president (of Iraq - PAP) to send a military attache to the Iraqi Embassy in Warsaw. This is crucial", said Andrzej Duda, adding that Polish companies, including the Polish Armaments Group, had requested for a cooperation contact person to reside in Warsaw.
The talks also concerned the internal situation in Iraq, security issues, and cooperation with Poland as a member of the EU.
