The meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in Brussels on Tuesday concerned Warsaw's plans to increase the US military presence in Poland and the region, President Andrzej Duda said after the talk.

 

At NATO headquarters in Brussels, President Duda briefed the NATO chief on Poland-US talks concerning a potential strengthening of the US military presence in Poland.

 

The visit was related to Andrzej Duda's upcoming visit to the US and a planned meeting with US President Donald Trump in the White House.

 

It is expected that decisions on the increase of US military involvement in Poland could be revealed during Duda's visit that starts on June 12.

 

Andrzej Duda told a press conference at NATO headquarters that he was counting on a "conclusion of talks", which so far had been conducted at a lower level.

 

The president stressed that Poland wants the potentially raised presence to be part of increasing the security of Central and Eastern Europe, but also to be part of activities under NATO's auspices.
