President to attend Brdo-Brijuni Process Summit in Tirana
President Andrzej Duda will attend, as a guest of honour, a summit of South-Eastern European countries to be held in Tirana on May 8-9.
The participation in the meeting of heads of states of the so called Brdo-Brijuni initiative, whose aim is to deepen cooperation of the Western Balkan states and support their progress on the road to the EU, crowns a series of President Duda's EU-linked activities inaugurated last week by the celebration of the 15th anniversary of Poland's accession to the EU.
The key part of the Tirana summit will take place on May 9, on European Day, and the day of an informal summit of EU-27 heads of state and government, in Sibiu, central Romania. The meeting will be devoted to the future of the EU and challenges it faces.
In Tirana, the Polish president is to emphasize the need for the EU to maintain its "open door" policy and stress the role and importance of European policy in the South East Europe.
While in Tiran, the President is scheduled to meet with President of Albania Ilir Meta and President of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic. (PAP)
