Polish and German Presidents discuss European policy over phone
European policy in the context of the upcoming European elections, as well as the Sunday presidential elections in Ukraine were the topics of Thursday's telephone conversation between the Polish and German Presidents, head of the Polish President's Office said.
According to the presidential minister, the conversation between Andrzej Duda and Frank-Walter Steinmeier took place on the initiative of the German side and lasted about half an hour.
During the talks President Duda conveyed to President Steinmeier condolences for the families of the victims of Wednesday's coach crash in Madeira. All 29 fatalities were German tourists.
The second round of the Presidential election will take place in Ukraine on Sunday with the current president Petro Poroshenko facing the popular entertainer Volodymyr Zelensky.
The first round, held on March 31, was won by Zelensky who gained 30.2 percent support against 16 percent of votes for Poroshenko. (PAP)
