The Chancellery of the President has received thousands of e-mails and letters of condolence in foreign languages.
After the funeral ceremony, members of the official delegations conveyed their condolences to the family of the presidential couple and to the representatives of the Polish authorities.

In the wake of the tragedy of the presidential aircraft, Polish Parliament Speaker Mr. Bronisław Komorowski, Acting President of the Republic of Poland has received numerous condolences from the world’s leaders.
On 10 April 2010 on the way to commemoration ceremony of the 70 th anniversary of the Katyn massacre the President of the Republic of Poland Mr Lech Kaczynski, the First Lady Mrs Maria Kaczynska, members of the Polish delegation and crew lost their lives.

The President of Poland awarded the Commander's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland and the Iraq Star to General David Petraeus in recognition of his services in developing military cooperation between Poland and the USA.

After the swearing-in ceremony, Lech Kaczyński met with the new Ukrainian president. He invited him to pay a visit to Poland and the invitation was accepted.
