On Wednesday, President Lech Kaczyński met with Madeleine Albright. The President and the former United States Secretary of State discussed the relations between Poland and the USA as well as perspectives for their development in the context of the foreign policy of the new administration, including their plans concerning Afghanistan and Iraq. 

The two politicians also discussed the extension of NATO and the programme to construct, in the future, elements of a National Missile Defence system in Poland. Matters concerning relations with Russia, the situation of the countries in the South Caucasus, the conflict in the Middle East and the potential threat of Iran were also addressed during the meeting.
