Presidents of Poland, Germany and Ukraine meet in Wroclaw
Presidents of Poland and Germany Bronislaw Komorowski and Christian Wulff spoke about Europe’s spiritual unity and international cooperation in education and science at their meeting marking the 200th anniversary of the State University of Wroclaw.
According to Bronisław Komorowski, the presence in Wroclaw of the President of Germany and the expected presence of the President Victor Yanukovych of Ukraine is a proof that ”we wish to and we can continue this university work which has been produced over many years of history of the university community in Wroclaw and of many nations which were making up that community over centuries”.
In the evening, after the delayed arrival of President Victor Yanukovych of Ukraine, the leaders of three states held talks in the City Hall. Thereupon, following a bilateral session of the Presidents of Poland and Ukraine, Bronisław Komorowski pledged Poland’s support to Ukraine on the road towards European integration. ”We wish to express our support not only by a kind word but also by offering our advice about how to overcome difficulties. This was the purpose of our today’s meeting”, he noted.
President Komorowski went on to say that the meeting with President Yanukovych provided an opportunity to discuss the issues important for the process of bringing Ukraine closer to EU structures.
