Poland, as a member of the UN, is very proud that it can promote global security in many aspects, including everyday life, the military sphere and for future generations, President Andrzej Duda said before an official concert in the southern city of Katowice on Monday.

The concert was organised during the UN's COP24 climate conference that started in Katowice on Sunday, and was meant to mark the 100th anniversary of Poland regaining its independence.

Announcing the musical content, Andrzej Duda said the pieces making up the programme will draw upon Poland's history, both from 1918 and contemporary times.

"As we welcome you and enjoy your presence, we, the Poles, are extremely proud that we can host the COP climate conference in Poland for the third time, but we are also extremely proud that this happens at a time when we are a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council," the President said.

"We are very proud that as a member of this biggest organisation, the UN, we can take care of the world's security in many aspects - in the aspect of everyday life security, military security and also with reference to the future of the next generations, an aspect the COP conference is concerned with," Andrzej Duda added.
