"We want Poland to contribute energy security to the Three Seas initiative", President Andrzej Duda said on Wednesday at a meeting with business representatives in Zagreb, Croatia. He also encouraged strengthening of economic cooperation between Poland and Croatia.

The Polish President, who is on a three-day official visit to Croatia, met with the Croatian Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic and Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic.

Duda emphasized that Poland and Croatia have established numerous business relations which function well and "offer very good prospects". He pointed out that the Polish entrepreneurs present at the meeting were realising the idea of Three Seas through their operations, like infrastructure development or energy security system building, including completion of an LNG terminal in Swinoujscie on the Baltic coast.

The Polish president underlined that works were underway to build pipelines allowing Poland to bring gas from the Norwegian shelf, which would mean for a total diversification of gas supplies the country.

"It is not our ambition (...) to satisfy our market and to protect ourselves, we also want to be a security provider and therefore protect our partners in Central Europe", Duda pointed out.

Andrzej Duda noted that last Friday Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydlo signed a memorandum with the Prime Minister of Denmark Lars Rasmussen on the construction of the Baltic Pipe gas pipeline. (PAP)
