European and NATO doors should remain open, President Andrzej Duda said Wednesday adding that the integration process within the EU and NATO should embrace more countries.

"One of our today's biggest tasks and duties is to assure what societies in all our countries expect - security. We are all aware that there is much concern, we are dealing with the infringement of states' territorial integrity, unfortunately we also have aggression and frozen conflicts", the president said when meeting with participants of a two-day Summit of Speakers of Central and Eastern European Parliaments.

The president pointed out that this concerns "the problem of Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova, Armenia, Azerbaijan and the problem of internal unrests in the Balkans".

"But there is also a problem of aspirations which countries of East and Central Europe and of the Western Balkans have regarding European and Trans-Atlantic cooperation, building partnership or the joining of the EU or NATO in the future", said Andrzej Duda.

The president stressed he was a strongly for European integration as well as future integration within NATO to embrace a growing number of countries. In his opinion "doors to Europe as well as to NATO should remain open." According to President Duda the two organisations in the course of time should be joined by further countries.

"I trust this is a perspective of many of the Western Balkans countries, a perspective of numerous East European countries manifesting their aspirations in this field for years. Poland is open and will support such aspirations", President Duda declared. (PAP)
