Polish President Andrzej Duda in New York on Tuesday took part in a meeting of the Adriatic-Baltic-Black Sea Group comprising South and Central European countries. The partners expressed intentions to tighten cooperation.

The group, comprising Poland, Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Austria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia and Hungary, met on the side-lines of the 70th session of the UN General Assembly.

"The cooperation focuses on three areas: energy, transport and telecommunications. The point is not to create a new formal political organisation, but to work together within already existing cooperation networks," Presidential Minister Krzysztof Szczerski told PAP.

According to Szczerski, President Duda talked about conditions for good cooperation, including political trust and strategic planning, particularly in the context of using EU money for joint infrastructure projects along the North-South axis.

"This new initiative is in line with the plan that President Andrzej Duda has talked about from the very beginning, that is the creation of an Adriatic-Baltic-Black Sea community. It is good that this has taken real shape," Krzysztof Szczerski stressed.

Also on Tuesday, Andrzej Duda met with the presidents of Georgia and Senegal and the prime minister of New Zealand. (PAP)
