Distinguished Veterans,
Distinguished Guests,
Excellences,
Ladies and Gentlemen,

First of all, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Mr. Michael Fallon, Secretary of State for Defence, for organizing this special event.

On behalf of myself and the Polish nation, I would also like to express my gratitude to the British nation for the memory of the heroic deeds of Polish pilots during the Battle of Britain. We welcome every sign of this memory with great respect.

Poland and the United Kingdom have always been strong allies and our noble anniversary gives a solid proof of that fact. Our common struggle during the II World War, including the Battle of Britain, brought together our countries and our Nations.

However, history has not come to an end.

Nowadays we are facing serious challenges to our common European security. National freedom is threatened and sovereignty of the nation states needs to be defended. Respect for international law needs to be restored.

I am really satisfied that, here – in the United Kingdom, I face complete understanding of that. We very much appreciate the United Kingdom's efforts aimed at adapting NATO to new circumstances.

I hope that the United Kingdom will continue to support Poland in its efforts to ensure peace and stability in our region.

God bless our veterans, Polish and British heroes of the II World War. People were brave women and man who protected our freedom and sovereignty.

Distinguished Veterans,

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Honourable Minister,
Excellences,
Dear Guests,

I am very touched to be standing today before the people who, as I have noted a moment ago, fought for our freedom, for the sovereignty of our states.

I wish to thank you for hospitality, not only the one accorded to me over the two days in London and in the United Kingdom. I also wish to thank you for the hospitality shown to generations of Poles who have been living here and continue to live here, and who nowadays in the United Kingdom fulfil their life aspirations. Time was when their stay here was coerced: they were here in order not to land in prison in Poland, not to die secretly murdered in the days of the communist regime.

But first and foremost, I wanted to offer my thanks to the veterans: equally the Polish ones, my compatriots, and the British ones; for the fight staged back then, for their heroism, for standing arm in arm, for their victory. These were fine days, though much blood was shed, but it was worthwhile: for your freedom and ours.

I would like to pay my profound tribute to all them who fell, all of them who were fighting and the ones who have lived long enough to be here with us today. Above all, what I would like to wish you is good health and strength, so that you can stay with us as long as possible, so that you could attend such meetings, since by your presence you give testimony:  you are a testimony to patriotism, you are a testimony to heroism, you are a testimony to greatness, and this is wonderful.

What I want to say aloud here is: Long live Poland! For Poland is alive also thanks to you. You were the ones who fought for her.

And God bless this land, land of hope and glory.
