Danuta Kazimiera Wawrzynkiewicz – Advisor to the President


Born 4th March 1938 in Warsaw. Completed Vocational Administrative Studies at the Warsaw University. From 1956 to 1981 she worked in field government administration in Financial Departments in the Voivodship National Council in Warsaw (until 1975) and the Capital City National Council (until 1981).
 

In 1982 Ms Wawrzynkiewicz was moved to the Ministry of Finance. In the Ministry of Finance, in the State Budget Department she worked in the positions of:
- Head of Central and Field Administration Financing Sub-unit (1982-1988),
- Deputy Director of the State Budget Department (1989-1995).
 

In 1996 she was appointed to the position of Director of the newly-created Local Self-Government Finances Department, which she headed until 2000. From 2000 until 2004 she was an advisor to the Minister of Finance. Her work in the Ministry of Finance included working on the public finances system. She cooperated in the creation in the years 1989-2000 of all fundamental acts of law, which today constitute the local self-government finances system as well as acts of law on public finances. She was a representative of the Minister of Finance in the National Local Self-government Caucus, which was the first national representative body of self-government. In subsequent years she was in the Joint Government and Local Self-Government Committee.

 

For many years she trained local authorities at various courses, conferences and caucuses (mayors, treasurers and municipal councillors). Since 2003 she is with the National School of Public Administration, where she lectures on public finances and budgets of local authorities.

 

From 17th February 2004 Ms Wawrzynkiewicz, by appointment of the City Council upon request of the President of the Capital city of Warsaw, had the function of treasurer.

 

Since March 2006 Danuta Kazimiera Wawrzynkiewicz is a representative of the President of the Republic of Poland in the Banking Supervision Commission.

 

On 1st February 2007 she occupies the position of Advisor to the President on matters concerning public finances, including finances of local authorities.
