Moroccan Prime Minister at the Presidential Palace

In Warsaw on Friday, Lech Kaczyński, the Polish President, and Abbas El Fassi, the Prime Minister of Morocco, discussed such issues as the economy, the Eastern Partnership, the Union for the Mediterranean, and tourism. The Polish President also invited King Mohammed VI of Morocco to visit Poland.

After the meeting, Mariusz Handzlik, the Undersecretary of State, reported that Abbas El Fasi accepted the invitation on behalf of the Moroccan king; Lech Kaczyński hopes that Mohammed VI will visit Poland “as soon as conveniently possible.”

Handzlik added that both politicians described the relations between their countries as excellent. According to the undersecretary, the two politicians discussed the good economic situation of Poland and Morocco – the two countries have experienced economic growth in spite of the worldwide economic crisis. Lech Kaczyński and Abbas El Fassi also talked about Morocco cooperating with the EU and emphasized that the Eastern Partnership and the Union for the Mediterranean are indeed important.
