"Poland belongs in G-20"

“My country belongs in G-20,” Lech Kaczyński stated during the traditional meeting with the diplomatic corps, which took place on Tuesday evening. One hundred ambassadors of the Republic of Poland visited the Presidential Palace.

“According to our calculations, the Polish economy is eighteenth in the world. I, as the President of Poland, will speak bluntly – the place of my country is in G-20,” he said.

“That we claim a place there is only natural: the Polish economy is sizeable and Poland is the largest country in a region which has also been through a lot in the course of its history – and this history is one of transition,” he explained. Lech Kaczyński emphasized that the importance of G-20 is continually increasing.

Speaking on behalf of the diplomatic corps, Archbishop Józef Kowalczyk, the Apostolic Nuncio in Poland and the Dean of the Corps, wished the President and the people of Poland all the best in 2010.
