The mission in Iraq extended

On 22 December 2006, the President of the Republic of Poland, Lech Kaczyński, signed a decision to extend the tour of duty of the Polish Military Contingent in the International Stabilisation Force in the Republic of Iraq.

Under the decision, from 1 January 2007 until 31 December 2007, the Polish Military Contingent of up to 1200 troops and other army personnel (including 900 personnel deployed in the Republic of Iraq and 300 in the Republic of Poland) will be part of the International Stabilisation Force in the Republic of Iraq, with a reservation that it may be withdrawn earlier, provided that the internal security situation in the country so allows.
