On June 13, 2000 President of the Republic of Poland Aleksander Kwasniewski recalled Ryszard Kalisz from his post of the Secretary of State, acting as the Head of the Presidential Chancellery. Pursuant to the Article 143 of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland, President nominated Ms. Jolanta Szymanek-Deresz the Head of the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland. In his statement after the nomination President Aleksander Kwasniewski said i.a.: I would like to thank Ryszard for all these months he spent in the Chancellery taking care of the legal matters, and later, when he acted as the Head of the Chancellery. He was a good spirit of this Office. Always deeply dedicated to his duties, very competent, and very friendly. Today`s decision marks a new stage that we start together. Ryszard, accepting my request, agreed to lead an electoral campaign and from now on he will work out of the Chancellery, but in the service for the Republic of Poland, for my humble person, for all of us, in the campaign that will be successful, and that should bring Poland and all of us the feeling of stability, development, and the safe future (...) I wish to express my great pleasure, Aleksander Kwasniewski said, that I could nominate Ms. Szymanek-Deresz. She proved to be an excellent lawyer, a person of great responsibility, very active, detail oriented, open in her relationship with other people, and matters
