Tadeusz Deszkiewicz

Tadeusz Deszkiewicz was born on March 13, 1952. He graduated from the Faculty of the Polish Philology at the University of Warsaw. In the years 1977-1996 he was a journalist Chief Music Editorial Office of Polish Radio and Television and Polish Radio 2.

 

In 1996, in consequence of getting engaged in cooperation with artistic associations, aimed at laying down the concept and creating of the proprietary Broadcasting Station "Radio ART", he was forced to resign from working for the Polish Radio.

Co-author and host of the first television game show linguistic "ABC". Since 1997, he had been vice-president of a film studio "Dr. Watkins” and co-producer of a series entitled "Citizen Poet" about Polish poet Zbigniew Herbert and, of the film "The Mouse That Roared" which marked the 20th anniversary of Solidarity.

 

In 2001, he was appointed by Head of the City Promotion Department by the Mayor of Warsaw, Mr Lech Kaczynski, and since 2007 Mr Deszkiewicz worked as deputy director of the Department of Social Communication of the Polish National Bank NBP.

 

Since 2010, he has been working for the Town Council of Wołomin, first as Head of Culture and Promotion Department, and subsequently as Mayor’s Plenipotentiary.

 

From 2015, he has been member of the Programme Board of the Polish Radio and RDC SA.

He is author of hundreds of articles and radio and TV programs on the subject of music and culture. Member of the editorial team and author writing for the quarterly "Polish Culture – Polska Kultura". Regular columnist for the London-published weekly "Polski Tydzień” /”Polish Week"/. Translator of articles and recordings for "Reader's Digest". Currently, cultural commentator on TV Republika and in the portal wpolityce.pl.

Since the beginning of his professional activity, Mr Deszkiewicz has been actively engaged in community initiatives. He was co-founder and president of the Foundation "Flying University", acting to benefit musically gifted children with autism and cerebral palsy.

He was vice-president of the Mieczyslaw Karlowicz Society in Zakopane and co-founder of the International Chamber Music Festival "Music at the Heights" in Zakopane.

 

From 2012 until 2015, he was president of the Society of Friends of Moniuszko Music. In 2012, he was the initiator and organizer of campaign to the rescue of the Warsaw Chamber Opera. From 2012, the co-organizer and member of jury at the International Singing Competition "Belcanto Italiano" in Pineto and Rome.

Winner of the Award of the Polish Radio for transmissions from the Metropolitan Opera in New York. 

As of December 10, 2015, Mr Deszkiewicz has been appointed Advisor to the President of the Republic of the Republic of Poland.
