Paweł Sałek

Born on June 29, 1975 in Skierniewice. Having completed his Automotive Technical Upper Secondary School, he took up studies at the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Information Technology of the Czestochowa University of Technology. In the course of his studies, he was an active member of the Independent Students’ Union NZS, also serving as Director of the Academic Centre for Academic Ecological Education of the Union.

 

After graduation, he continued his studies completing the course on “Assessment and Valuation of Natural Resources” offered by the University of Life Sciences in Warsaw in partnership with the Warsaw School of Economics. He is an author and co-author of numerous publications, reports and papers featuring the use of the UNCC, the instruments made available by the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement, to foster Poland’s development.


Mr Sałek completed International MBA, the syllabus run by the Centre for Management Training at the Department of Management, University of Warsaw, as well as a course on “International Relations and Diplomacy” at the Institute of Political Studies of the College of Social and Media Culture (CSMC) in Torun.


In 2002-2004, he was Deputy Head of the Department of Public Utilities and Environmental Protection at the Skierniewice Municipal Office. Thereafter, he worked as Director of the Municipal Waste Management Department in Warsaw (2004-2006).


In 2002-2006, Mr Sałek was Local Councillor in the Municipality of Makow, District of Skierniewice. In the years 2005-2007, he was member of the Political Cabinet of the Minister of Environment Professor Jan Szyszko. During this period, he organized and was the first head of the national administration of Emission Trading System at the Institute for Environmental Protection (currently: National Centre for Emissions Management KOBiZE). After 2007, he worked as chief specialist at the National Emission Inventory Centre. In the period 2009-2015, he worked as Vice-President of the Board of Directors, CTO at the Radom Heating Company RADPEC SA in Radom.


Before assuming his role of Adviser to the President of Poland, Mr Sałek served as state secretary in the Ministry of the Environment – Plenipotentiary of the Governmental Climate Policy in the cabinets of Prime Minister Beata Szydło and Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.


In the Chancellery of the President of Poland Mr Sałek is responsible for environmental issues, climate policy and sustainable development.
